Memorial Weekend

Unfortunately this is the only picture I got of the food we ate all weekend. But we started it out by having cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped hot dogs with curly fries and corn. When Paula and Asa arrived we ate enchiladas with home made chile sauce, sopapillas and guac. We also made a huge breakfast of eggs benedict (California style), amazing french toast, sausage and cantaloupe.
Monday (after eating a huge breakfast) we spent all afternoon working in the yard. Paula got us some beautiful flowers and Brad and Asa got all the pots ready and the sprinkler system up and running.

Brad found a garter snake in the sprinkler system control box, it nearly scared him to death. When he opened the box to set up the system the snake sprang out at him! Below is the final result of the three main pots, but we also planted daisies in the front along with marigolds and in two other backyard pots we planted tomato and cilantro! I love looking in the back and seeing all the color.

Paula and Asa also brought tons of entertainment. We played a bunch of Qwerkle and then enjoyed a water fight while the pool was inflating.

We really enjoyed relaxing on the patio while the kids splashed. Brad and Asa also got a little BB shooting in, which was tricky because there was a breeze blowing their target around!

10th Anniversary Cruise

On our way to our 10th anniversary cruise we had several connecting flights. Here we are in the Dallas airport all night long. Luckily, some really friendly people saw that we were hanging around and told us to head to terminal A for restaurants that stay open all night and for cots to sleep on!

When we finally got on board the ship we enjoyed air hockey and racing games

The next day we awoke to St. Thomas. We spent the day shopping and playing at a beautiful beach. We rode an open-air bus to the other side of the island and enjoyed beautiful vistas of this jungle island.

The next day we woke up early and enjoyed the views as we sailed into St. Kitts.

We went on a Catamaran sail and snorkel...but first we got to meet a monkey!

After snorkelling they fed us lunch and sailed us to Nevis to enjoy the beautiful beach

After an hour we got back on the boat and sailed back to the cruise ship

That evening, after showering and napping, we ate dinner in the dining room and enjoyed a show in the "Lyric Theater."

The next day was a cruising day so we roamed the ship, got services from the spa, napped, watched movies, swam in the evening and enjoyed a late night show.

After a day of cruising we were excited to get off the boat and do some more exploring. We landed in Curacao and an iguana ran right in front of us. We walked three miles around town, headed back to the ship for an early lunch and then met our tour guide for our private jet-ski tour.

Curacao jet ski trip: this was exhilarating and super fun! We saw little turtles popping up for air in the bay and lots of brightly colored fish at the sunken tug boat.

The next day we arrived in Aruba. We found an ATV rental place about 10 minutes from the dock so we walked over there and picked up a couple rides!

This was probably the highlight of the cruise for me. I'd never been on an ATV before and it was ridiculous amounts of fun to go flying over the dunes and be able to see the majority of Aruba while doing it.

The next day was our last on the ship, a cruising day and also our official anniversary. We slept in, watched movies, ate a ton of food, enjoyed the breeze on the top deck, watched a towel folding demonstration, got a ginger-lime scrub and couples massage and ate at the fancy restaurant.

The next day our flight didn't leave San Juan until 4:30 so we took a tour of the city and did some more shopping. The old fort is a national park and we really enjoyed touring it.

We once again had a really long day travelling home and slept at the Dallas airport again. Sunday morning we finally arrived in Albuquerque and drove to Santa Fe to see our kids. It's crazy that we've been married 10 years, and when people on the ship asked I don't think they believed that we'd been married that long. It was wonderful to spend an entire week with my hubby reminiscing and creating new memories.

We got these soccer uniforms for the kids in Curacao, best souvenir ever!
